Map of the Visible Heavens - 19th Century Celestial Chart
A high quality reproduction of an old antique celestial map engraving from the 1840's by Samuel D. McCullough. Amazing baroque drawings represent constellations and astrological signs. The celestial sphere is represented as two hemispheres mapping constellations of stars in the night sky. Each sign of the zodiac is illustrated. Celestial hemispheres feature a decorative border split into sectors indicating the day/month and corresponding astrological sign. Inset diagrams depict: telescopic view of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn Venus, theory of the moons motion, and various nebula. Also features a legend classifying scales of magnitude for stars.
A very interesting historic astronomy chart that will surely make for wonderful conversation piece.
Each map is produced as a detailed museum quality archive print. This special printing process is known as Giclee (zhee-CLAY) and is commonly used to produce very high quality fine art prints. Printed on Archive Paper, Luster Photo Paper, or Matte Canvas.
Map print ships rolled up in a durable cardboard tube. Frame is not included.
