Description
Reproduction panoramic view of the community known as Bellevue, Ohio published by Burleigh & Norris in 1888. Bellevue was founded in 1815 and known at the time as "Amsden Corners". The post office, known as "York Cross Roads Post Office, was established in 1828. In the 1830's, civil engineer James H. Bell named the towns new railroad station Bellevue and the post office soon followed with the name Bellevue Post Office. Bellevue was a busy hub for the Nickel Plate Road, Pennsylvania and Wheeling & Lake Erie railroad lines.
