This panoramic print of Black Hawk, Colorado was drawn by J. J. Stoner and published by Beck & Pauli Lith. Co. in 1882. Black Hawk was established along the North Fork of Clear Creek in the gold rush era of the late 1850's. A valuable smelter was built at that location in 1868 for processing of the gold.
The Colorado Central Railroad reached the community in 1872. By 1882, the mines surrounding Black Hawk were incorporating a stamp milling process to break down ore.
Black Hawk was the main supplier for the miners and contained several popular saloons.
