Historic Map - Bristol, CT - 1907
Description
Bird's eye view of Bristol, Conn. 1907.
The town of Bristol was known as a "clock-making" town throughout the 1800's, and is now home to the American Clock and Watch Museum. This reproduction historic map of Bristol, Connecticut, in 1907 is a more elaborate map than the one shown from 1889, and includes extensive place name references as well as photo insets of notable buildings in the town.
The "New Departure Bell Company" is shown in one of the inset images. The "New Departure Manufacturing Company", was to later become a part of the General Motors Corporation. Founder Albert Rockwell and his wife, Nettie, resided at Brightwood Hall, a grand mansion originally built for Mrs. Helen Welch Atkins-McKay, who sadly died before its completion.
