Reproduction cadastral map of Cazenovia, New York, surveyed and published by civil engineer Henry Hart in 1852. The village of Cazenovia was named after Theophilus Cazenove, who was an agent for the Holland Land Company and had worked to obtain large portions of land for development. A dairy farming community, Cazenovia has large expanses of grazing land nearby. Cazenovia Seminary was founded in 1825, of the Methodist Episcopal faith. In 1839, it began offering its three year course focusing on the education of women.
This cadastral map from 1852 includes clearly labeled street names and lot lines. It includes inset illustration of Cazenovia Seminary and ornate title cartouche.
