This hand-colored bird’s-eye view print of Goffstown, New Hampshire was drawn and published by George E. Norris, Burleigh Lith. in 1887. Goffstown was settled in the 1740's on the banks of the Piscataquog River and named after Colonial American soldier and Hillsborough County judge John Goffe.
During the 1800's, the river’s water-power at Goffstown supported numerous mills and factories. When railroads reached the town, in the 1840's, New England tourists began to take notice of the area and its scenic views of the Uncanoonuc Mountains.
The map includes labeled roads, buildings and railroad route.
