This bird’s-eye view print of Marshall, Michigan was drawn and published by Albert Ruger, Chicago Lith. Co. around 1868. Marshall was settled in the 1830's along the Kalamazoo River.
Marshall held important railroad shops of the Michigan Central and Detroit, Toledo and Milwaukee railways in the mid-1800's. The Michigan Central later acquired the D. T. & M. Railroad’s line between Allegan and Dundee. The railroad’s locomotive and car shops at Marshall were moved to Jackson in 1871.
The map includes labeled roads, buildings, waterways and railroad route.
