This panoramic print of Minneapolis, Minnesota was drawn by Albert Ruger and published by Ruger and Stoner, Beck & Pauli, lith. in 1879. Minneapolis is considered the “City of Lakes” with so many waterways at that location along the Mississippi River.
In 1879, the farmers in the region were beginning to adapt to new farm crops, as the valued grain grown earlier had become susceptible to annual locust invasions. Minneapolis telephone services were added in 1880.
The map, looking north west, includes labeled streets, buildings, bridges, railroad routes and vicinity. There are inset illustrations of the northern portion of Minneapolis at the lower right.
