This reproduction aerial view of Oriskany Falls, New York was drawn by Lucien R. Burleigh in 1891. Oriskany Falls is a village in Oneida County named after nearby Oriskany Creek's falls. The village, incorporated in the 1880's, is located in a narrow valley bordered by three hills. The fast-moving waters of the creek made this a desirable place to establish mills and factories in the 1800's. Oriskany Falls' citizens operated textile mills, flour and grist mills, foundries, furniture factories, a canning factory and a stone quarry during this time.
This panoramic view map of Oriskany Falls from 1891 shows labeled streets, buildings and railroad routes.
