Incorporated in 1880, the area that is now Pendleton began as a commercial center as early as 1851, when a trading post was established at the mouth of McKay Creek by Dr. William C. McKay. Insets on lower right depict elevations of "South Side of Court Street" and "West Side of Main Street". This beautiful map provides a look at the beginnings of the city.
