This bird’s-eye view print of Plymouth, Massachusetts was drawn and published by O. H. Bailey & Co. in 1882. Plymouth is where it all started, in 1620, when the area was first settled by Europeans who had crossed the Atlantic aboard the Mayflower.

The coastal community prospered in the 1800's as a fishing and shipbuilding center. During that time, rope and cordage manufacturing was central to Plymouth’s economy.

The illustration includes labeled streets, buildings and railroad routes. Port activities are displayed in the foreground. There are detailed illustrations of the following:
