This richly colored panoramic print of Provincetown, Massachusetts was drawn and published by Walker Lith. & Pub. Co. in 1910. Provincetown was settled in 1700 at the tip of the Cape Cod peninsula.
Known for its fine fishing, Provincetown’s deep-water harbor enabled whalers to conduct business at this point during the 1800's.
In the early 1900's, Provincetown and its wonders began attracting the creative artisans that the area is now known for. Visitors could easily travel to Provincetown by steamer or the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railway.
The Pilgrim Monument, located at the center of the image was completed in 1910. It still stands today as the tallest all-granite structure in the country.
The illustration shows Provincetown and vicinity with indicated railroad route and harbor activities. Important places are numbered, but no reference list is included.
