Historic Map - Pulaski, NY - 1885
Description
This reproduction panoramic map of Pulaski, New York was drawn and published by L. R. Burleigh, C. H. Vogt & Son in 1885. Pulaski is a village in Oswego County near Lake Ontario. Named for General Casimir Pulaski, an aide to General Washington, Pulaski is prone to great snowfalls each year. The Salmon River powered several factories during the mid-1800's in this region that today is supported by fishing tourism. Four years prior to this map's publishing the entire business district of Pulaski was destroyed by fire. In 1883, John Ben Snow was born in Pulaski. He later would become the town's most famous philanthropist, building several community buildings and contributing to the town's well-being.
The map from 1885 shows buildings, clearly labeled streets and railroad route.
