This arrangement of views of Rochester, East Rochester and Gonic, New Hampshire was drawn and published by Henry Wellge, Norris & Wellge Co. in 1884. Rochester, and Gonic to the south, were settled in the 1700's. Timber harvesting was aggressively done in the early years, and later, farming.
In the 1800's, several mills and manufactories were built at this location between the Salmon Falls, Isinglass and Cochecho rivers. Rochester was a busy New England railroad hub in the late 1800's.
The views include labeled streets, buildings, bridges, waterways and railroad routes.
