This bird’s-eye view print of South Weymouth, Massachusetts was drawn by C. E. Jörgensen and published by Geo. H. Walker & Co. in 1886. Weymouth was settled in the 1600's southeast of Quincy. South Weymouth began as an agricultural region with close access to a vast pond.
In the 1800's, manufacturing interests emerged in South Weymouth, especially with the shoe and boot industry.
The illustration, from the fairgrounds, includes labeled streets, buildings and railroad route.
