This bird’s-eye view print of Warren, Massachusetts was drawn and published by O. H. Bailey & Co. in 1879. Warren was settled in the 1600's as Quaboag Plantation in what was then part of Maine. It was incorporated as the town of Western in 1741 and re-named Warren in 1834 after Revolutionary War hero General Joseph Warren.
During and after the American Civil War, Warren prospered as a manufacturing center with numerous shoe and boot manufacturers, as well as fine woolen mills and agricultural implement makers.
