Reproduction aero-view of Westwood, New Jersey drawn by Rene Cinquin and published by Hughes & Cinquin in 1924. Westwood evolved from a small farming and mill community in the Pascack Valley into a manufacturing town with the addition of the Hackensack and New York Railroad in 1870. Factories emerged and supporting businesses prospered in the area located just twenty five miles from New York City. The Borough of Westwood formed from Washington Township in 1894. The town began laying out new streets and improved the water system to provide for prospective businesses and residents.
