This distance map of the north-central and middle Atlantic states was published by John Mueller in 1853. It displays major destinations, waterways, and the railroad system of the 1850's, specifically featured is the Cleveland & Mahoning Railroad with its branches and connections, completed or in progress. Distance tables appear at the bottom.

This important Ohio railroad was an essential connection between the Great Lake port town of Cleveland and the eastern cities of Baltimore, Philadelphia and Jersey City. The line was later absorbed into the Erie Railroad system.
