West Virginia’s Coal & Iron Railway served the coal and iron ore mines of the Valley Mountain and Shavers Fork region of the state.
It promised connections with the Alexandria, London & Hampshire Railroad, Virginia Railroad, West Virginia Central & Pittsburgh Railroad, Metropolitan Railroad, Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, Davis & Mt. Airy Railway, Pennsylvania Central Railroad, Cumberland Valley Railroad, Huntington & Broad Top Line, Lebanon Valley Railroad, East Pennsylvania Railroad, and New Jersey Central Railroad.
This map of the middle Atlantic states was published in 1882 by G.W. & C.B. Colton & Co. It shows drainage, canals, roads, cities and towns, and the railroad network of 1882. Displayed are portions of Virginia, West Virginia and Delaware.
